Retractors
Ophthalmic retractors are used to separate and retain soft tissues of the eye socket for examination or surgical interference. A retractor may have a wide, fork-shaped blade with several blunt or sharp prongs, attached to its own handle. Another configuration presupposes a surgical instrument with a locking element, which is designed for retracting the edges of a surgical incision providing access to the lacrimal sac during ophthalmic surgery.
